Mr. Isa Kyoshin
An folding fan artist, "Yuzensai Miyazaki" was the third generation of the kimono artist of Kyoto born in the Edo era.
He devises dyeing technique called "Tsutsugaki-moyo-norioki", and Isa Kyoshin succeeds to it.

Born in 1972, living in Kyoto now.
An folding fan artist, "Yuzensai Miyazaki" whom the third generation of the kimono artist of Kyoto in Edo era.
He devised dyeing technique called "Tsutsugakimoyonorioki", and Isa Kyoshin succeeds to it.
He has begun to paint a T-shirt for ten years.
And he painted more than 1,000 pieces of T-shirts so far, and there are more than 100 kinds of original Japanese design.
His forte is a bold design, and he aims at "making of product which is not subject to changes in fashion." that likes Osharehompo style.

| What is a characteristic design of Mr. Isa for you? |
Speaking of a Japanese design, I think that there are many people imagining a dragon and a tiger.
I also draw them, but design have a history and stories.
Moreover it is filled with Japanese 4 seasons and a thought of the people from old times.
I finish one by one so carefully with thinking of it well.
In addition, I think it is so precious thing that imagining a person who wear my work of art.
I draw prudently to enjoy them from small children to aged men, and I want to do the activity introducing good point of the ancient Japanese design.

| What kind of tool do you use? |
You know, one of my tool is "Tsutsugaki".
Because the kimono is very expensive, it is worn to several generations like from Grandmother to a mother, and from a mother to daughter.
Therefore there are much of wisdom to be able to wear several generations.
Dye does not soak into cloth well when I draw a narrow line with a writing brush.
But "Tsutsugaki" can do it extremely well.
Even though it is ordinary T-shirt, I want you to wear it for a long time so the technique is very important.
Of course I use a writing brush (paint brush) and the brush when I paint with a big line and a large part to express the softness.
In short, I use it depending on the circumstances.
For example, <weather-beaten crest T-shirt>.
In this case, I use "Tsutsugaki" in narrow line. You can find a little swell when you pick it up. I have a good command of using tools. I use "Tsutsugaki" to draw clearly line, writing brush is tolerant line and brush for gradation.
Most of my job is only by manual labor. It really take time.
But It is also one of my pleasure to find such a part which time-consuming job.
Please expect for collaboration with Osharehompo in future. My wish is that handicrafts spread again in the world.
Actually, the thing which were made by craftsman was imminent an age ago. If a lot of people use it, I feel really blessed to be a craftsman. |
